| An animated film based on the sad fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen about a poor girl who sells matches on Christmas night. Girl with Matches is a short fairy tale based on H. C. Andersen's book, one of the not-so-well-known Milady Kacenová's workshop. On Christmas Day, a little girl sets off on a sleigh pulled by a deer into the forest, where she is chased by a blizzard, which the little girl defies with magical objects. She continues her journey on a swan to the desert, where a genie and other magical creatures await her. The fairy tale is filmed somberly like many Andersen fairy tales. However, all the fantasies that the little girl sees in the lit match will end well. A piano and flute accompaniment completes the not very positive atmosphere. |
