Taking place in the 1940s during the German occupation of the Czech Republic (called Böhmen und Mahren back then), this installment follows the story of three young women and two small children as they await the return of their imprisoned husbands and fathers. The women, forced into a family union by the war, are being helped greatly by family friend and doctor, Jiri.
