In Victorian London foundling Jedrington Secret-Past has his shop of stuff confiscated and his wife and children jailed in the Skint debtors' prison by wicked lawyer Malifax Skulkingworm, who claims that Jedrington has inherited a debt from his supposed grandfather, which must be paid by Christmas day - eleven hours' time. Denied help by his austere adopted aunts, Jedrington's kindly uncle provides the money but Skulkingworm attempts to kill the shop keeper. He is rescued by the Artful Codger and his urchins and shown proof by Skulkingworm's clerk Fearshiver that he is not the descendant of a debtor but the child of Miss Christmasham, who deserted Malifax to marry Mr Fruitcake, the maddest man in the Skint. After the family has escaped from jail with jovial Mr Jollyforth, Miss Christmasham and Fruitcake marry on Christmas eve, thus giving Jedrington legitimacy and thwarting the evil lawyer.
The secrets the Carters have been keeping are about to be revealed on Christmas Day. The Beales are determined to enjoy their 1st Christmas since Lucy's death however an eerie gift left under their Christmas tree may put a stop to that.

Based on the best-selling autobiography by Irish expatriate Frank McCourt, Angela's Ashes follows the experiences of young Frankie and his family as they try against all odds to escape the poverty endemic in the slums of pre-war Limerick. The film opens with the family in Brooklyn, but following the death of one of Frankie's siblings, they return home, only to find the situation there even worse. Prejudice against Frankie's Northern Irish father makes his search for employment in the Republic difficult despite his having fought for the I.R.A., and when he does find money, he spends it on drink.
Life for the Carters continues to explode following the revelation that Shirley is Mick’s mother – can they ever recover? Elsewhere, Nick looks set to leave the Square, but will he go as planned?
