Six-year-old Hugo Christmas gets the surprise of his life when he discovers a magical elf hiding in his house. He can only return to his world next Christmas, so he hopes to find shelter with the Christmases, but a year is a long time to hide an elf who speaks a strange language, has magical powers, and cannot stand the summer heat.
Mads is not going to a Christmas tree party this year because his father's company is way too small for that. Therefore, Mads decides to arrange his own party. He invites some of his friends and his teacher's grandson. Arranging a party is of course not easy for a young boy; it involves theft, intrigue, deception - Can Mads overcome the difficulties, or will there be no Christmas tree party?
Martha is pressured to exploit her friendship with the president. Roosevelt defies isolationists to push the Lend-Lease act. Martha and the children get a surprise Christmas present.
