The teacher Václav goes every evening to watch the princess skating on the frozen lake, but he doesn't admit to himself that he is in love with her. One day, the star Denicka, the fiancee of the radiant Sirius, who was knocked down by the jealous Proxima, shows up at his house. Every star on earth is fading, but pure, selfless love can give it strength. When Denicka discovers that Václav loves the princess, she decides to help their love and thus save herself. But Proxima is determined not to give up and to do anything to shine next to Sirius instead of Denicka.
Pedantic policeman Frantisek (Ondrej Vetchý) wants to bring up his three daughters with a firm hand. He would like to see the girls coupled with capable and successful men, but instead they have the talent to find the opposite. One of them is constantly trying to get pregnant, second one is only dating exotic fools and the third one is expecting a baby without knowing who is the father. Frantisek and his wife (Simona Stasová) always spend their vacation at the local lake, although the wife is dreaming of the seaside. One day she meets a bohemian writer with slightly suicidal tendencies (Miroslav Táborský) and an attractive colleague with Spanish roots (Kristína Peláková) walks into Frantisek's office and things get moving.
A boy and his family leave Prague during World War II and move to a small village called Slavonice. There, he meets distant relatives and adjusts to a new way of life.
