Trivia: Based on a children's fairy tale written by Charles Dickens. Dickens wrote "The Cricket on the Hearth" and it was first published Dec. 20, 1845. It was one of more than two-dozen Christmas stories he wrote.

The Night Before Christmas (1968)
Fictionalized account of how Clement C. Moore came to write "A Visit from St. Nicholas," in which his young daughter, stricken with pneumonia, asks for a Santa Claus story for Christmas. No such story had been written, so Moore writes his famous poem, set to Ken Darby's musical version and sung by The Norman Luboff Choir.

Strange Christmas special with Bing Crosby and a slew of British stars of both stage and screen. It also has a surprise appearance by Bob Hope. Shirley Bassey sings two songs--"Shooting High" and "As I Love You", which was her first number 1 hit. Bing travels around England, looking for the history of his family tree. Bob Hope and Bing singing "White Christmas" at the end. // Filmed on location in London, where Bing was filming Road to Hong Kong. Bing wanders the streets of London encountering his guests, including Bob Hope (in drag).
