Christmas is here, so the team get a week off. At first, they are overjoyed, but when Alex, Sigge and Teo come home to their respective families, they discover, that they are no fun anymore. Sigge's dad only wants money from him, Alex's parents don't believe he has money and are very stingy (their Christmas tree is more than a year old and broken, since they think it will cost too much to get a new one), whereas Teo's parents don't want to celebrate Christmas - they want to continue their scientific research instead. Einar spends the whole Christmas drinking at the hotel. When Teo, dressed up as Santa Claus, delivers Sigge's parents' Christmas presents to the wrong address by mistake, it turns out that Christmas wasn't as much fun as they had thought and in the end, they are all very relieved to be back at the hotel for New Year's.

In 1920s Stockholm, young Roland lives with his socialist father, Jewish mother, and boxer brother. His mother sells condoms illegally, and from them Roland makes slingshots, which he sells. His rebellious ways have won him his schoolteacher's special attention; his teacher always makes sure he is punished. Roland also tries to make extra money by repairing bicycles; it's a successful business, but it eventually lands him in hot water.
