Noel Edmonds and his team resume gift-giving duties, recognising and rewarding the country's most deserving individuals. In keeping with tradition, this seasonal special is more warming than a mug or two of mulled wine, packed with extraordinary stories of bravery, compassion and kindness.
This TV special features the singing of Christmas carols by popular singers Luther Vandross, Faith Hill, and CeCe Winans, as well as opera singer Ruth Ann Swenson. The special is hosted by the cast of NBC's hit comedy "3rd Rock From the Sun": John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart, Joey Gordon-Levitt, and Jane Curtin. The guests of honor are the Presidential first couple, Bill and Hillary Clinton. President Clinton makes a brief speech near the end of the ceremony. Proceeds from the special go to charity.
The British are no longer coming, they're here. And as the American colonies make their final break from the British empire, their newly minted commander-in-chief George Washington realizes he's been handed a nearly impossible task--fighting the most powerful and seasoned armed forces in the world with a ragtag group of soldiers that is undisciplined, inexperienced and underfunded. With no formal military training or major victory to his name, Washington sets the course for achieving the unimaginable through cunning, ingenuity and sheer force of will. And he is transformed in the process, from a man driven by personal ambition and animus for the British, to a man called to lead a cause far larger--the cause of liberty.
