Hard times and holiday tensions teach a father, Michael Harris (Ruben Studdard, American Idol), what Christmas is all about. When both Michael and his wife Sandra's (Golden Brooks, Girlfriends) parents come for an unannounced visit, what should be a joyous and festive holiday turns into chaos. Michael learns that of all the many gifts he gives to his family, the gift of giving oneself is the greatest gift of all.
At Christmastime, none of the Chandlers seem to have the holiday spirit except for Stephanie. Marci and Blair are obsessing over being the perfect parents, Myra and Donald have retired and suddenly feel useless, and Elizabeth is bending over backward to get a promotion at work. That is, until a group of kids at an orphanage helps the family realize that there's more to Christmas than wrapping gifts and baking cookies.
