For his Christmas program Danny is joined by singers Peggy Lee and Wayne Newton, the International Children's Choir of Long Beach, California, and series regulars Harvey Korman and Joyce Van Patten. Danny plays a father who encounters great difficulty assembling a bicycle for his son on Christmas Eve. Later he plays the elderly Italian tailor Giovanni who has moved to America to live with his son and daughter-in-law.
Members of a town's Jewish community decide to substitute for their Christian friends and neighbors so they can enjoy Christmas. The good folk humorously attempt jobs they have never done before.
The mysterious owner of a costume shop rents a Santa Claus suit to three very different men: a math teacher trying to get the nerve to propose, a homeless restaurateur trying to hide from the mob, and a harried political speech writer visiting with his estranged wife and son. Their lives are inexorably changed by their experience of playing Santa Claus.
