All Star Comedy Carnival was an annual Christmas-special produced by ITV, containing new mini-episodes of popular British sitcoms and light entertainment programmes with some musical interludes. This was broadcast annually on 25 December on ITV, from 1969 to 1973. All Star Comedy Carnvial was a direct competitor to the BBC's Christmas Night with the Stars. All had short five-minute sketches devised and produced for transmission within the festive period, written by the original writers of each comedy series.

Jimmy Tarbuck and friends present an evening of Christmas entertainment, including six specially-written sketches from ITV's most popular comedies: 'Man About the House', 'Billy Liar', 'Sez Les', 'My Good Woman', 'Spring and Autumn' and 'Doctor in Charge'.
Christmas Special. Eli gives the Christmas club money to a promoter who promises him a share of the profits from the Christmas play he is producing. He promptly spends it, and when Nellie and the gang find out, they offer to play the parts in the play. During the rehearsals, the promoter makes a break for it.
The Little Match Girl is a short story by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The story is about a dying child’s hopes and dreams, and was first published in 1845. This adaptation was made for Harlech TV and broadcast on 28th December 1986 and starred Twiggy and Roger Daltrey, and features the song ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ which became a Christmas number one for Cliff Richard in 1988, the biggest selling record of that year.
