All Star Comedy Carnival (1969)
All Star Comedy Carnival was an annual Christmas-special produced by ITV, containing new mini-episodes of popular British sitcoms and light entertainment programmes with some musical interludes. This was broadcast annually on 25 December on ITV, from 1969 to 1973. All Star Comedy Carnvial was a direct competitor to the BBC's Christmas Night with the Stars. Geraldine is so popular that everybody wants her round for Christmas dinner so she won't be alone - Jim and Frank, Alice and her family, who are even more bizarre than Alice herself and the Hortons. Geraldine is protective of Hugo when David bullies him and indulges in a sprout-eating contest. And then Owen turns up wanting company since he has spent every Christmas alone since 1971. As a consequence she has to be taken home on a bulldozer to sleep it off.

For Christmas Geraldine plans to stage a Nativity play in front of the church. David will play Herod,showing his kinder side, and Owen wants to be the King - cue his Elvis Presley impression. Alice and Hugo play Joseph and Mary and, amazingly, learn to speak Hebrew. During the play Alice goes into labour and gives birth, prompting an audience member to declare it is the most realistic Nativity play she ever saw.

Christmas coincides with Geraldine's tenth year as vicar and David suggests that she should apply to be a bishop. A coincidental visit by Rachel Hunter leads Alice to believe that Geraldine is gay, but plans go ahead for her to meet the Archbishop of Canterbury to discuss her promotion. At her party she dives into a chocolate fountain, emerging to meet the Archbishop. Sensing that she has blown her chance of promotion, she gets drunk and delivers a bizarre Midnight Mass, whilst Jim's winning entry in a carol contest is similarly unusual.

Abel Kane, ex-rock star and ex-cellmate of Darryl, offers the sisters, Garth and Dorien free use of his villa in Majorca. On arrival the women are shocked to find Darryl and Chris are there, having escaped whilst touring with the prison rock band. Helpful local Pedro comes in to clean and rescues the three women after they have been marooned on an island after a boat trip. On return to the villa, however, they find someone has planted drugs in Dorien's hand-bag, leading to their arrest. Fortunately Darryl uses his insider information to bust a drug-smuggling racket and get them all freed whilst Tracey has some news of her own - she might be pregnant!
