Two families, Sebkovi and Krausovi, are celebrating christmas, but not everyone is in a good mood. Teenage kids think their fathers are totaly stupid, fathers are sure their children are nothing more than rebels, hating anything they say.
One evening, two fairies - Worry and Fortune with their young assistant Mina - are walking through old Prague. As it is Fortune's birthday, she decides to give people a gift - she enchants quite ordinary slippers to fulfill the wearer's every wish. The slippers then change hands that evening and everything they have ever dreamed of suddenly becomes a reality. But what people wish for is often very tricky, and it may not always bring one the desired happiness. Rather, it happens to be misery. Even Fortune becomes convinced of this when she realizes that happiness is something everyone must earn for themselves.
A nurse is part of the resistance in 1940s Czech Republic. She is discovered and must find a place to hide. A patient whose life she saved, from a remote mountain village where time stopped 150 years ago, agrees to hide her as his wife.
This romantic comedy presents a story of two women, twenty-year-old Laura (Zuzana Kanócz), an editor at a woman's weekly, and her widowed mother, a translator-interpreter named Jana (Simona Stasová). The two of them tirelessly seek Mr. Right. Having once lived through an intense relationship with a 'typical' Czech man, Jana intentionally avoids Czech men. After several unsuccessful attempts, Laura falls in love with Oliver (Marek Vasut), a forty year old who works as an ad agency idea man. Little does she suspect that twenty years ago Oliver was Jana's true love.
An adaptation of the original series, In 2014, Czech Television and RTVS began filming their own TV series starring Miroslav Donutil, which is heavily inspired by the original British series, Doc Martin. The Czech version is set in the Beskydy mountains, which is a picturesque area in the east of the Czech Republic on the border with Slovakia; like Portwenn, it is a long way from the capital, Prague, and dependent on the tourist industry.
