Two families, Sebkovi and Krausovi, are celebrating christmas, but not everyone is in a good mood. Teenage kids think their fathers are totaly stupid, fathers are sure their children are nothing more than rebels, hating anything they say.
This romantic comedy presents a story of two women, twenty-year-old Laura (Zuzana Kanócz), an editor at a woman's weekly, and her widowed mother, a translator-interpreter named Jana (Simona Stasová). The two of them tirelessly seek Mr. Right. Having once lived through an intense relationship with a 'typical' Czech man, Jana intentionally avoids Czech men. After several unsuccessful attempts, Laura falls in love with Oliver (Marek Vasut), a forty year old who works as an ad agency idea man. Little does she suspect that twenty years ago Oliver was Jana's true love.
Three young adults in Most sort out feelings and responsibilities: Monika's boyfriend has left for the States, her mother wants her to join him there, and if the invitation does come, what should she do? Toník is a nice guy, his love for Moni is unrequited. He's trying to rebuild his family's crumbling house; a nearby factory has made an offer to buy the land. With Moni, he watches out for the two young sons of Dasha, their friend who's in a hopeless long-term affair with a married man: Dasha is at once unstable, unrealistic, neglectful of her boys, and cruel to those who help. For whom is this something like happiness?
Pedantic policeman Frantisek (Ondrej Vetchý) wants to bring up his three daughters with a firm hand. He would like to see the girls coupled with capable and successful men, but instead they have the talent to find the opposite. One of them is constantly trying to get pregnant, second one is only dating exotic fools and the third one is expecting a baby without knowing who is the father. Frantisek and his wife (Simona Stasová) always spend their vacation at the local lake, although the wife is dreaming of the seaside. One day she meets a bohemian writer with slightly suicidal tendencies (Miroslav Táborský) and an attractive colleague with Spanish roots (Kristína Peláková) walks into Frantisek's office and things get moving.
