Wilhelm is expected home for Christmas, but a telegram arrives which changes the plans for the holidays. Karl asks Christina an important question during midnight mass. And gets an answer.
Heinz is arriving at the airport. Hermann has come to meet him while Johanna is preparing the Christmas dinner. Wilhelm wants everybody to play happy family while Heinz is visiting. For Monique there is a big problem - she has been invited to the farmhouse to celebrate with the Fallers, but not Alex. What shall she do?
Bea and Karl plan a quiet Christmas with Jenny, fearing celebrations with the entire extended family may be too much for the girl. Sophie and Eva are getting on like a house on fire. Friedrich's surprise visit and well meant attentions for Jenny don't meet with approval.

Kati is celebrating Christmas with Eva, Andreas and granddaughter Carlotta. She goes to the inn, to look after possible customers, and also to cook the dinner in Tu's lovely kitchen. Toni, her only customer on the day, helps her cooking - with disastrous results. Bernhard is celebrating alone in his home, but there is a bit of joy when he finally hold a photo of his son Marius in his hands.
It's Christmas Eve and Bea is decorating the tree. Johanna reflects on the fact that Wilhelm was still alive the last time the whole family celebrated Christmas together. Hermann, on the other hand, feels weak and sick. Johanna is worried that someone could become infected - especially when Bea's big solo performance is coming up. Despite having a cold, Hermann got a new television. But when Karl sees Hermann operating the device, he becomes skeptical. The operating instructions don't help either, as the translation is completely incomprehensible. Katie is disappointed. Not only does Peter have to spend Christmas with his parents, he also hasn't called all day. Eva's friend Nico also went to his parents' house. But he has already called Eva several times and has already given her a gift. But that doesn't make Kati any happier. She just can't figure out what's going on with Peter.
