In the program, Father Peyton’s Family Theater Group reenacts events leading to the birth of Christ. // This film recounts the story of the Nativity as seen by Simeon, an old man who has been told by God about the coming of the Messiah. This just and devout believer is doubted by his friends and family, but he holds steadfast to the promise that he will see the Christ Child. The story continues with Mary and Joseph making their way to Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus, the arrival of the Magi, and then on to the temple for the presentation before Simeon.

Father Conroy (Crosby) has a parish which serves the acting and performance community. When one of his parishoners gets too sick to work, his daughter Holly (Reynolds) finds a job working for a dance club of questionable character, which is run by Tony Vincent (Wagner). Vincent never made the big time, and Father Conroy tries to look after Holly. There are many musical numbers, and the conclusion is a televised benefit show hosted by Father Conroy, and Tony must choose between Holly and national fame.
Strange Christmas special with Bing Crosby and a slew of British stars of both stage and screen. It also has a surprise appearance by Bob Hope. Shirley Bassey sings two songs--"Shooting High" and "As I Love You", which was her first number 1 hit. Bing travels around England, looking for the history of his family tree.
